Weird Pregnancy Changes You're Not Expecting

8 strange pregnancy symptoms your doctor didn't warn you about.

Bigger nose

Many expectant moms notice a larger nose during pregnancy. Why? Again, blame those raging hormones, which can cause mucuous membranes to swell, as well as make your sniffer feel stuffy. As blood flow increases, some moms-to-be may also experience more frequent nosebleeds.

Hair growth

Your entire body is growing to accommodate your baby, and your hair is no exception. New hair is growing more rapidly and old hair is shedding more slowly. Your mane may feel thicker, and you may notice hairs sprouting in odd places, like your belly, breasts and nipples.

Skin tags

As your skin is growing and stretching to accommodate baby, you may notice pieces of "accessory" skin, called skin flaps, on your breasts, armpits and neck. Skin tags are harmless, though they won't diminish after you deliver. You can have them easily removed by a doctor.

Vision changes

Pregnancy can affect your eyes and eyesight, too, though they'll probably be minor. Water retention may change the fluid volumes in the eyes and thicken corneas -- it's also why laser eye surgery isn't recommended during pregnancy. Most women who experience a change find that they're a bit more nearsighted than they were before pregnancy. Other changes can include dryness and irritation, and reduced tolerance of contact lenses. Luckily, vision typically revert back to normal post-pregnancy.

Rest assured most physical side effects of pregnancy are harmless and will fade soon after delivery, but if you have a change and you're not sure if this is good or bad, you should always call and check with your doctor -- just in case.
